Niruha Basti/Kashayabasti

Classical recipe of nirooha basti has these five ingredients and each one has its own place and importance to make the recipe divine and effective.

  1. Honey
  2. Rock salt
  3. Oil/ghee
  4. Paste of herbs dry/fresh herbs
  5. Decoction of  dry/fresh herbs 
  • Honey –honey is sweet and astringent in taste, hot potency, and dries in quality. It has kaphahar in its nature. The most important properties of honey in the context of basti karma are the ‘yogvahitvam and sukshmarga anusaritvam’means it has catalytic action and has capacity to penetrate in to minute capillaries of the body.
  • Rock salt –rock salt contains 21 essential and 30 accessory minerals.98%sodium and traces of potasium, it regulates acid potassium balance, maintaing osmosis. It removes excess acidity; generate hydroelectric energies in the cells and for nerve cell communication.
  • Oil/ghee –medicated oil and ghee is selected according to imbalanced Doshas.
  • Paste of herbs – herbs selected according to imbalanced Doshas and disease and made in to paste and used.
  • Decoction of herbs –decoction also prepared with traditional method with desired herbs required for present health condition.
